Interview with Hit from the Calisthenics Kingz

 

Last year I was very fortunate to get an interview with “Hit” from the calisthenics kingz. If you don’t know about the calisthenics kingz yet, check out his video below and I guarantee you’ll be amazed. I got a chance to ask him about calisthenics, the benefits of training this way, and more.
 
Me: Please explain to the readers what exactly is calisthenics

Hit: Calisthenics defined in a whole is gymnastic style exercises designed to develop muscular tone and promote physical well being. The Art of such exercises also greatly builds, inner strength and develops anatomy by using your own bodyweight as resistance.

Me: You are part of the Calisthenics kingz. What is the calisthenics kingz and who are the members?

Hit: We are a group of fitness gurus who
promote fitness through bodyweight exercises. We educate people on this form of fitness and teach as well. There are 2 members Kyz and myself (Hit). And we are going to take calisthenics or bodyweight exercises to a level that the fitness industry has never seen. For both men & women of all ages.

Me: Tell us about the type of training that you guys do. Do you lift weights as well as train with bodyweight?

Hit: We do bodyweight training. I currently do not and have not done any weights. [Editors note: Like I say, resistance is resistance, whether it’s your body or dumbbells. Just see Hit’s physique if you don’t believe you can build muscle without weights.]

Me: Tell us a little bit about bodyweight training. Are there any benefits, as opposed to lifting weights?

Hit: There are many benefits for doing bodyweight training as opposed to using weights. For one the injury risk factor is much lower, you build better and more functional strength with bodyweight training, the body is sculpted better.

Me: So I’m from the UK, and over here we’ve got a big problem with obesity, poor health and fitness, and the rise of lifestyle diseases. There’s something similar going on across the pond, why do you think this is?

Hit: I think the obesity problem is due to the fact that people are not being educated on the importance of fitness and how beneficial it is in promoting and living a healthy lifestyle.

Me: Would you say the health and fitness industry has let the public down?

Hit: I don't believe the health & fitness industry has let down the public, I believe they do provide all that they can but I guess it depends on the interest level of people.

Me: So a person does not need a gym membership to get in good condition? I mean you can do stuff like pull-ups on a bus stop, or a playground workout and get in great condition right?

Hit: Absolutely. A person does not need a gym membership to get in great shape. They can do fitness at home or in a local park. This is the beauty of calisthenics, because no gym or gym equipment is needed.

Me: and can calisthenics be done by anyone? Young or old, male or female?

Hit: Yes anyone can train calisthenics at any age male or female, young or old.

Me: a lot of people think that Calisthenics is only effective for beginners, but tell us about a couple of advanced exercises that someone who already has a good level of fitness can aim for?

Hit: Calisthenics is for all levels of fitness, it doesn't matter if you're a beginner or at an advanced level there is so much that at any level you can continue to challenge yourself.

Me: A lot of people seem to view calisthenics as something that is good for endurance but not to build real strength, but can you get strong with bodyweight alone?

Hit: Yes you can build real strength with calisthenics, just take a look at all my videos and my dvds. You can all build flexibility, endurance, extreme inner strength, balance, stability, posture etc.

Me: What’s your favourite calisthenics feat, or exercise?

Hit: I have so many moves that I love to display such as my tiger bend push-ups, scorpion push-ups, front levers, "X" muscle ups, my human flag etc.

Me: You must get a lot of people watching you while you workout

Hit: Yes I always have a crowd of people watching me in amazement when I workout.

Me: You’re also a personal trainer. Can you give a couple of examples of how calisthenics have benefited some of your clients?

Hit: Yes I am a certified personal fitness trainer, currently holding 14 International certifications. Calisthenics have benefited my clients in several ways, one being it's increased their inner strength, they feel more energetic, their posture and sense of balance is better. The benefits they've achieved are countless.

Me. Now your latest dvd is titled “core strength training and playground pushups”. Tell us a little bit about that and where people can get a copy of it.
